Amazing Orchard in the Works

Our incredible Enviro class students and awesome teacher Allison Barrie have been busy this morning planting 34 trees around the College.

Did we mention the herb garden also planted in front of the Food Tech building?

This was all possible to the commitment of both students and teacher and a generous donation of trees by Graham’s Factree, a wholesale fruit tree farm in Hoddles Creek.

So far, the team has planted:

  • 10 Apple trees – 3 varieties
  • 10 Cheery trees – 2 varieties
  • 14 Citrus trees – including mandarines, tangelos, limes, oranges, lemons and grapefruit.
  • Herb garden – with an abundance of varieties to be used by the Food Tech classes.

Still to come: Peaches and nectarines.

What an amazing feat it has been. Preparing the ground , digging the holes and now finally planting the trees.

We can’t wait to see how the school landscape will be transformed in coming years.
