Homelessness Project by VCALs
As part of their personal development project, a group of VCAL students set out to learn about the issue of homelessness and share that knowledge with members of the community.
The busy and committed VCALs learned about the causes of homelessness including a confronting visit to the Salvation Army in Melbourne’s CBD.
The project research included interviews with many people working behind the scenes supporting homeless people.
Once it was time to share the knowledge, they created an age appropriate class lesson for students from the Pakenham Consolidated School. Our College students were pleased to see that at the end of their lesson presentation, the young students were able to demonstrate – through pictures (see below) – their understanding of what homelessness looks like and what it is exactly.
