Meaningful Projects by Year 10 Vcals
Students have been using their measuring and estimation skills to install weed mat and a thick layer of mulch around the raised vegetable garden beds outside the Senior School Centre.
Our Year 10 VCAL class have prepared scale drawings and planned a project which will become a Memorial ANZAC Garden at the school. We contacted and had a visit from the President of the Pakenham RSL, Mr Gary Elliott. We learned about the role of the RSL in our community and will work with Mr Elliott to prepare and install a plaque on a central granite stone in our garden. We have cleared and cut back vegetation, begun landscaping an upper and lower terrace and are awaiting a delivery of rocks that we will use to form the garden.
Students are also working on an Indigenous “Walking on Country” project which will be a tribute to our local Indigenous people – past, present and future. We are currently in the process of removing some overgrown daisy bushes and will begin preparing the site and planning the installation of local rock and stepping stones with the inclusion of artwork and local Indigenous plant species. We are working with Mr Max Godber from the Pakenham Living and Learning Centre and Sustain on these projects.
