NAIDOC 2018

Dear NAIDOC supporters,

The Koolin-ik ba Kirrip-buluk (Family and Friends) National NAIDOC Week Celebration is to be held at the

Cranbourne Gardens

Wednesday 11 July 2018

10am – 2pm.
Koolin-ik ba Kirrip-buluk (Family and Friends) NAIDOC event creates opportunities for cultural learning for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community members from the Southern Metropolitan Region and beyond. Koolin-ik ba Kirrip-buluk is a free family-friendly event celebrating Indigenous culture hosted in the City of Casey and supported by numerous community organisations.

The event offers opportunities for CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community members, newly arrived migrant and refugee children and families to celebrate and learn about Australia’s oldest living culture. Cultural emersion experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, particularly young Koori children living in out-of-home care, are offered on the day. Culturally relevant practices and experiences are shared to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community health and wellbeing, and assist in connecting Indigenous culture to the broader community.

This year’s theme ‘Because of Her, We Can’  celebrates the invaluable contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women make to our community. Our event program shall include the following activities:
