PSC Chess Team Makes Us Proud at Chess Nationals

Last week, the College Chess team competed in the National competition held at Melbourne University.

The Middle Years Chess team members were Hayden King, Danien Kho, Sibtain Azeem, Yven Cole and Leon Rehl the placed 6th over-all. The Girls team members were Victoria Hendrick, Amina Hussaini, Kaleah McCaw, Krystal Whalley and Elina Cole they finished 3rd place after two days of intense competition. Our girls team lost to two champion teams from New Zealand.

Among the top 10 teams Our Middle Years team was the only government school with Melbourne High School that won gold.  Nossal came in 11th place.

During recess today, Hayden and Danien reviewed their games from yesterday to analyse their game and looking at next year’s season.  The expectations of our students are so high and the worked really hard the whole year to get to their current level.

The success of the team was possible due to the support of the school admin, principal class and the teachers. Special thanks to Frances for looking after the students by providing us with the blazers which made them blend in with the Grammar school students.
