Product Design and Technology – Textiles

In VCE Product Design and Technology (Textiles) students assume the role of a designer-maker. In adopting this role, they acquire and apply knowledge of factors that influence design. Students address the design factors relevant to their design situation.

Assessment

Your internal assessment is based on your satisfactory performance in School Assessed Coursework completed on each of the four areas of study. Midyear and End of year examinations contribute to your assessment.

Previous Experience/Prerequisites

No previous experience is necessary but the study of Textiles in years 9 or 10 is a great advantage.

  • Unit 3 SAC’s: 12 %
  • Unit 4 SAC’s: 8 %
  • SAT-Design Folio: 50 %
  • External examination: 30 %

Previous Experience/Prerequisites

No previous experience is necessary but the study of Product Design Technology Units 1 & 2 is a great advantage.

Future Pathways

This subject is particularly valuable for those considering tertiary study in any design based course, where a folio is used in the interview process for admission into the course.
