SOAR values turned into artwork

Year 7 art program students have been busy placing their creative skills forward.

Under the guidance of artist in residence, Tara Kingston, Fay Muir – Boon Wurrung elder – Mr Sartain and Ms Henderson, students are generating the artwork that will be displayed in the revamped Year 7 Centre.

Tara is quite familiar with our school, having led several other projects currently displayed in the library. In reflecting on the day, Tara shares,”it is the excitement and enthusiasm displayed by the students that keeps me coming back. The students have accomplished so much in a short time, as we only did design and drafts in the morning and by the afternoon we have near finished works of art”.

Tara loves the creativity that comes from collaborating on a project such as this and the opportunity for young people to leave a mark in the newly shaped Year 7 Centre.

The creations will be centred around the College SOAR values and the concept of ‘Busy Bees’, as Boon Wurrung elder, Fay Muir refers to the synergy of students at this stage of life.
