Year 10 Elective – Food Technology
Students develop their understanding of the design process and its individual elements, the importance of excellent safety and hygiene skills and practical aspects of food preparation, handling and presentation.
Students revise and develop their understanding of nutrition and associated issues, dietary related diseases and individual dietary needs, food allergies and food sensitivities.
Students explore some of the principles of cooking, sensory and chemical comparisons and functional properties of ingredients.
Students demonstrate their understanding of the design process by addressing design briefs and following the design process.
This unit consists of theory and practical components.
