Year 10 Health and Physical Education
During Year 10 Physical Education and Health, students will participate in both practical and theoretical classes. During practical sessions, the focus is on the development of skills and movements required for successful participation in a series of team sports. Students will also enhance their understanding of the rules and guidelines for each sport and implement these whilst undertaking various roles during gameplay. There is also a strong focus on the development of a fitness program that promotes the maintenance of an active lifestyle. Students will also participate in a peer teaching program that encourages them to develop knowledge and understanding of skill based activities.
Health Education classes aim to raise awareness of the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. There is a strong focus on performance evaluation and the implementation of strategies to enhance areas for improvement. Students will explore ideas and concepts based around self-esteem, confidence and resilience and identify various coping mechanisms. They will also analyse health in Australia and investigate the link between diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
