Year 9 Elective – Food Technology

Course Description:

This unit has theory and practical components. Students study kitchen safety, hygiene and organisation. Students study multicultural society, explore international foods and their impact on Australian cuisine. They investigate and produce foods from different countries. Students are also introduced to aspects of menu planning, allowing them to cater for different social occasions in both a formal and informal capacity, ranging from finger food to main meals, desserts and celebration cakes.
