Year 9 Elective – Team Sports

Course Description:

In this elective, students will develop an understanding of the factors affecting the performance of an elite athlete, including their coach, nutrition and state of mind.

Students will investigate the work of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA), to ensure sport is clean and fair for all, as well as ensuring elite athletes are positive role models.

Students will also analyse common acute and chronic injuries in sport and examine different methods to prevent them from occurring.

Furthermore, students will develop an awareness of the inequalities often faced by women in sport and suggest methods to reduce these barriers.
