School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program

At Pakenham Secondary College, our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program fosters a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment that brings together the school community. SWPBS helps to cultivate respectful and productive relationships between students and staff, contributing to a culture of inclusion and personal growth. Students and staff benefit from SWPBS in the following ways:

  • Increased respectful and positive behaviour

  • More time focused on learning

  • Enhanced social-emotional wellbeing

  • Stronger, more respectful relationships between students and staff

  • Greater adoption of evidence-based teaching practices

  • A predictable learning environment with improved safety perceptions and higher attendance rates

We have been successfully implementing SWPBS at Pakenham Secondary College for some time, helping to improve social, emotional, behavioural, and academic outcomes for our students.

Our SWPBS program is built on our core values of Social and Personal Responsibility, Opportunities for All, Achieving Personal Best, and Respectful Relationships. We actively recognize and celebrate students who demonstrate these values, ensuring they feel supported and valued. Our entire school community—students and staff alike—thrives within the framework of SWPBS.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Theme

The School Wide Positive Behaviour Theme for Term 2, 2025 is:  ACHIEVING YOUR PERSONAL BEST.

This term, we are encouraging all students to fully engage in their learning by actively participating in class, asking questions and submitting tasks on time to the best of their ability. We’re focusing on setting personal goals and striving for excellence in all College activities. Students are also encouraged to support and uplift their peers, maintain a positive attitude, try new things and make the most of feedback to improve and grow. Make the most of every opportunity to challenge yourself and achieve your personal best.
