Sport at PSC
Our Sports Program at Pakenham Secondary College promotes physical development, character, resilience, and teamwork. We pride ourselves on our achievements and the enthusiasm of students who embrace these opportunities to excel and have fun.
At Pakenham Secondary College we are committed to fostering a passion for physical activity and promoting a healthy lifestyle through our dynamic sports program. Our students are encouraged to develop their skills, work as a team, and demonstrate sportsmanship both in and out of competition. We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities throughout the year, including:
Swimming Carnival
Our annual Swimming Carnival is a highlight of the school year, where students compete in a variety of events, in a fun and competitive environment. This event is a fantastic way for students to showcase their swimming talents, build team spirit, and support their peers and their House. The Swimming Carnival also serves as a selection event for students wishing to represent the school at district and regional competitions.
Athletics Carnival
The Athletics Carnival is another major event on our sports calendar, featuring track and field events such as long jump, high jump, shot put, discus, sprints, hurdles and relays. Students of all abilities are encouraged to participate, whether they are competing for personal bests or aiming for top positions. The Athletics Carnival promotes physical fitness, perseverance, and healthy competition, and serves as a stepping stone for students to compete at higher levels.

Staff versus Students
Each year, the excitement builds as our Year 12 students take on the challenge of competing against the staff in a series of fun and competitive sporting events. Exclusive to Year 12 students, these matches include volleyball, basketball, netball, and dodgeball. The events provide a unique opportunity for students to showcase their athletic abilities while interacting with their teachers outside the classroom. With high energy and plenty of team spirit, these Staff vs. Students games have become a highly anticipated tradition at Pakenham Secondary College, creating unforgettable moments and lasting memories for all involved.
Colour Run and Cross Country Event
Our annual Colour Run and Cross Country event is a highlight of the school year, combining fun, fitness, and House spirit. The Cross Country activity offers students the opportunity to challenge themselves to achieve their personal best. Following this event, the Colour Run sees students race through a course getting covered in colourful powders from each of the four College Houses. Both events encourage physical activity, participation, and a strong sense of connection, creating an afternoon filled with energy, laughter, with memorable moments for everyone involved.
InterSchool Sport
Our students have the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of interschool sports competitions, including basketball, netball, AFL, soccer, and more. These events allow students to develop their teamwork, leadership, and competitive skills while competing against other schools in the area. Our students gain invaluable experience and form lasting friendships.
House Spirit
At Pakenham Secondary College, House Spirit is at the heart of our school culture. Throughout the year, students earn points for their Houses by participating in events like Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, Cross Country, and other sporting competitions. Students are encouraged to cheer on their peers, fostering a sense of unity and school pride as they support their House in every event.
